Artist Statement
Lisa persevered through many visual health obstacles since her birth and came to know the eye illustrations in different waiting rooms very well. These early inspirations were educational, and yet also personal through hours having been spent with them. Lisa proceeded to follow the path that exists in the overlap between art and science.
She feels that there are so many intricacies of life found within the different studies of biology, it makes it hard for one to feel indifferent and un-inspired.
Microbiology, in particular, is captivating in that it reveals the complicated networks and behaviors of the multitude of microorganisms surrounding you that are invisible to the naked eye.
Her favorite media is pencil on paper, but frequently branches out into sculpture, painting, printmaking, and digital media whenever the mood strikes.
